She continued her studies at Iowa State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science in 2021, and recently obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2025 from The Ohio State University. Dr. DeGroat expanded her expertise in cow-calf and feedlot medicine through international experience. She dedicated a substantial portion of her clinical year to private practices in Alberta, Canada, as well as in Iowa, Kansas, and Nebraska, with a focus on large animal reproduction, surgery, and medicine .Dr. DeGroat's professional interests include small and large animal surgery, large animal internal medicine, and herd health. She resides in the Bucyrus area with her two Shetland sheepdogs, Hudson and Winston, and is the owner-operator of The Turquoise Vet. She is available for routine appointments and surgeries at all three of our locations: Lincoln Way Animal Hospital in Upper Sandusky, North Central Veterinary in Sycamore, and Whetstone Animal Hospital in Bucyrus. Additionally, Dr. DeGroat provides on-farm services by appointment.
